Mad

After a brief hiatus, Fauxshionable is back and madder than ever.  I don't mean angry, I mean Mad....as in Men.

Maybe you'd say I'm far behind the curve in blogging about Mad Men, but not when you look at Fall 2010's styles. Were designers influenced by the show or did they simply wish to push women from sloppy to proper?

Regardless of the reasons, here's my own take on the women of Mad Men mixed with fall fashion.

Betty

Betty Draper embodies the perfectly put together woman of the early 1960's. To get the look, go for long, full skirts and fitted tops. Finish it off with ladylike jewelry and red lips.

Peggy

Peggy Olson is conservative and youthful in her dress. You would be too if you had a love child with a married man... Her look commands soft colors, ruffles or bows at the neck, and a love for headbands and hats.

Outfit: Skirt, top, and jacket: thrifted, Headband: Forever 21, Purse: Mulberry for Target, Shoes: Colin Stuart via Victoria's Secret

Joan

Joan Holloway is a walking pin-up in secretary's clothing. She exudes sexy confidence and commands the attention of the room. To create your own Joan, stick to body hugging pencil skirts, bold colors, and avoid big prints.

Vacation Styling - New York in Summer

Does the thought of packing for a trip leave you in a panic? Full on anxiety attack? Let me help you!

I met with Ashley from the Inner Peace Project to help her pull some looks for her upcoming trip to visit her sister Krystle in New York. I picked 4 looks that would take her through the day and into night.

Each look is comfortable yet packs the extra punch for New York style. Each could be worn with flats or heels and dressed up or down. Packing well is about being efficient!

How beautiful is Ashley? This is her second time on Fauxshionable - check out her other post here!

If you've got a big trip coming up and you feel like you've got nothing to bring, email me to set up a vacation styling appointment! fauxshionable@gmail.com

Shoppin' Your Closet - Step Up to the Mic

It has certainly been a while since I posted a closet shop.  I'd like to introduce my latest and greatest client: Mic One ! Mic (also known as Mike) is a Chicago based artist that brings the livest show in hip hop! You'll see much more from Mic on this blog but for now...

I met Mic for the first time last week to go through his current wardrobe to see if he had anything we could use for some upcoming photos and appearances. Turns out he has a lot of great stuff!

Lots of earth tones, awesome leather cuffs, fitted tees, cool hats and jeans make up Mic's essentials.  I put them together in some fresh new ways. Yes, I said fresh.

While you're reading, help Mic One be a part of the upcoming North Coast Music Festival here in Chicago! Click here to vote and listen to two of his songs.  "Like" him on Facebook to listen to even more tracks.

I'm really looking forward to working more with Mic!  Check back soon for more.

The Best of Fall 2010

I know it's only August 3, but fashion is already in fall!

A very generous friend of mine who was recently in Italy brought me Vogue Italia's Fall Fashion Show report. Pages and pages of the best of the shows, including the top selling looks from each designer. Why don't I get this insert in my American Vogue?!

Here are some of my favorites...I'm feeling hats, lady-like looks, full skirts, furs, gloves, and leather.

I'll also be sharing the Fall 2010 trend report insert soon - it spotlights looks from multiple designers with a common theme.  Camel, leopard, shearling - you'll see it all!
